EDF seeks rate increase "equal to or less than inflation"

The CEO of EDF, Pierre Gadonneix, said Friday 1 August at a press conference, have asked the state higher regulated electricity tariffs "equal to or less than inflation," inflation could settle at around 3%.
Pierre Gadonneix said he had requested the increase to cover "costs" of his company.

The increase in costs

"Our operating costs and our volumes have increased investment under the combined effect of rising raw material prices and accelerating our programme of construction of new production capacity, maintenance and development of networks" , "Said the boss of EDF.
According to public service contract between EDF and the state, the higher rates - set by the state - can not exceed inflation, which could amount to about 3% this year.
The previous increase in regulated electricity tariffs for individuals aoput dates back to 2007. They were then increased by 1.1%.
