The popularity of President Nicolas Sarkozy


The popularity of President Nicolas Sarkozy is down one point to 35%, Prime Minister Francois Fillon also losing one point to 51%, according to an IFOP poll to be published in the Journal du Dimanche.


The score of 35% of favourable opinions is the lowest registered by the Head of State in the investigation IFOP-JDD since his election in May 2007.

Some 64% (unchanged) of respondents said they were "dissatisfied with Nicolas Sarkozy as president of the Republic". 1% had no opinion.

The president is ahead by 16 percentage points of popularity by his head of government, a gap unchanged compared to April.

Mr. Fillon is seen favorably by 51% of respondents, against 45% (-2) of negative opinions. 4% do not.

Poll conducted by telephone from 15 to May 23 with a nationally representative sample of 1,865 people aged 18 and above (quota method). Detailed available from the National Commission polls
