Jets F-16,


The U.S. aircraft manufacturer Lockheed Martin announced Friday that Morocco had formalized its order for 24 fighter jets F-16, according to a news release.

The launch of the production apparatus is the subject of an initial contract, valued at 233.6 million dollars, according to the release.

In December, the Pentagon had informed Congress of its intention to sell in Morocco 24 fighter jets F-16 Lockheed Martin, equipment and related services for a total of up to 2.4 billion dollars.

The American F-16 were competing in Morocco with the french Dassault's Rafale, which has never won on export market.

The failure of the sale of Rafale Chérifien the kingdom, facing the American fighter, was announced in October.

"We are pleased that the Moroccan military aviation has chosen the F-16 to modernize its fleet of fighter jets," said John Larson, vice president of the F-16 within Lockheed Martin.

Morocco is the 25th country to equip F-16, according to the release.
