the officials called to go on strike on May 15

Five federations of the public service call to stop work and demonstrate against the abolition of posts and reforms underway or planned, on May 15, the day of a strike in Education.

"It's a social plan ahead to public service even if the government refuses the appellation" write unions CGT, Unsa, FSU, Solidaires and CFTC in a statement.

In their sights: 23,000 job cuts planned this year, about 35,000 per year planned from 2009, the savings due to "overhaul of public policy," Bill facilitating mobility and the White Paper proposing several measures to increase productivity.

The White Paper, recently surrendered to the government, "just ask a supplementary stone to a coherent plan of destruction of the Civil Service", believes Solidaires.

The organizations are calling for a "genuine democratic debate on state reform and civil service starting from the needs of all."

Several federations of teachers first and second degrees have also called for a strike on May 15 in protest against the planned abolition of some 11,200 posts at the beginning.
